Thea Rossen is a percussionist, creator and educator based in Melbourne, Australia. She is co-founder of the Ad Lib Collective an ensemble focussed on presenting new Australian music to audiences through commissions, performance, outreach and concert curation. In 2017, after a period of creative development at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity, Ad Lib will present an immersive program of works inspired by the science, ideas and emotions surrounding Climate Change with collaborators Penny String Quartet and composer Jared Yapp.
As a soloist and chamber musician, Thea has performed with a range of international artists including; Kroumata Percussion Ensemble, So Percussion, Speak Percussion, Sonya Lifschitz, Lisa Moore, Brett Dean and Simone Young. She has played with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Victoria and West Australian Symphony Orchestra and presented works at festivals including the Perth and Melbourne International Arts Festivals, White Night, Bendigo International Festival for Exploratory Music (BIFEM) and the Castlemaine State Festival.
