Kirsty Bremner has been a member of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra’s First Violin section since 1987. Kirsty was born in the UK and immigrated to Australia at an early age. She began violin lessons at the age of seven and later studied with Vincent Edwards at the Canberra School of Music. She furthered her studies in Hobart with the Czech violinist Jan Sedivka where she gained the degree of Bachelor of Music at the University of Tasmania.
Kirsty performed regularly with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra and as a soloist with them in the ABC Instrumental and Vocal Competition. An active chamber music player Kirsty played often in Hobart and throughout Tasmania.
In 1985 Kirsty joined the Elizabeth Trust Melbourne Orchestra, latterly as Associate Principal Second Violin, before successfully auditioning for the MSO. Guest appearances with other orchestras include the Australian Chamber orchestra, the Malaysian Phil Orchestra, Orchestra Ensemble Kanazawa in Japan and Sinfonia Britannia in Cardiff, Wales.
