MSO is proud to partner with leading educational institutions to support the next generation of musical talent.
- Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM) Partnership
The MSO and ANAM partnership nurtures Australia's most exceptional young musicians and prepares them for a career as professional performers. Including side-by-side, masterclass and mentorship opportunities, the program promotes resource sharing and collaboration in support of the brightest emerging musical talent.
- MSO – AYO String Fellowships
MSO String Fellowships for members of the Australian Youth Orchestra (AYO) involve an intensive week of one-on-one coaching between MSO mentors and AYO fellowship recipients, concerto and excerpt workshops and professional development sessions aimed at developing the skills and knowledge needed for young musicians entering the life of a professional orchestra. The Fellowship culminates in an audition for a casual engagement with the MSO.
- MSO – MYO Partnership
MSO works in partnership with Melbourne Youth Orchestras (MYO) offering mutual support for the development of young talent. The partnership includes MYO offering scholarships to support participants in MSO’s Pizzicato Effect program to attend Summer School in January as well as become members of MYO weekly Saturday ensembles.
- Berry Street
Berry Street Education is delighted to provide professional development for Pizzicato Effect Teaching Artists, sharing our deep understanding of meaningful and student-focused learning. These best-practice sessions support the innovative and dynamic Pizzicato Effect team in providing a supportive and rich learning environment for students in this important program. Many primary and secondary school students encounter daily challenges that can impact their success at school. These can range from ongoing stress and a lack of family support to a specific traumatic event. Despite best efforts and intentions, schools often require specialised strategies to address student needs for healing, growth, and achievement. The Berry Street Education Model (BSEM) is a practical approach to teaching and learning that enables teachers to increase engagement with students with complex, unmet learning needs and successfully improve all students’ self-regulation, growth and academic achievement. The pedagogical strategies incorporate evidence-based trauma-aware teaching, positive education, and wellbeing practices.
