Emerging young conductor Carlo Antonioli has been announced as the recipient of the 2022 Cybec Assistant Conductor Fellowship with the MSO.

MSO Chief Conductor Jaime Martín welcomed Carlo to the MSO Artistic Family.

“Carlo is a talented young conductor with a promising future and has proven himself over the years working with other orchestras. As well as being a gifted young talent, he has shown passion, commitment and professionalism along the way,” said Martin. “We welcome Carlo into the MSO family and look forward to helping him reach his full potential.”

Carlo graduated from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, University of Sydney with a Master of Music Studies (Conducting) in 2017 and has since undertaken a range of conducting engagements including Guest Assistant Conductor at Sydney Symphony Orchestra and Assistant Conductor at West Australian Symphony Orchestra.

Describing himself as a passionate educator and communicator who enjoys sharing the joy of orchestral music with new audiences, Carlo said he was thrilled to receive such an extraordinary professional opportunity.

“I couldn’t have asked for a more amazing Christmas gift than this career-changing fellowship,” Carlo said. “As an emerging conductor at the cusp of my career, the opportunity to work with the musicians, as well as the artistic and management teams at one of the world’s finest symphony orchestras is genuinely humbling and exciting”.

Managing Director, Sophie Galaise acknowledged the generous support of the Cybec Foundation in funding this significant opportunity for emerging artists.

Carlo Antonioli will join the MSO from January 2022 and undertake the Cybec Assistant Conductor Fellowship.
