Benjamin Northey

Lalah Hathaway
singer

The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, in partnership with the Melbourne International Jazz Festival are proud to present a living legend of R&B, soul and jazz: 5-time Grammy Award winner, Lalah Hathaway.

Appearing in Australia for the very first time, the ‘First Daughter of Soul’ and the MSO will honour the legacy and work of her illustrious father—singer, arranger, composer and soul music legend, Donny Hathaway.

With her powerful vocals and mesmerising range, industry veteran Hathaway has shared the stage with a host of music royalty including Prince, Stevie Wonder and Herbie Hancock—as well as collaborating with modern jazz and hip-hop heavyweights Pharrell Williams, Dr. Dre, Snarky Puppy, Robert Glasper and Esperanza Spalding.

Hathaway’s vocal prowess is undeniable, and her soulful jazz expression and technical virtuosity unparalleled. This is a rare and exclusive opportunity to see a true modern master alongside Australia's leading symphony orchestra.
