About this performance

A story of hope, freedom and family love.

Join the MSO as they bring the beautiful picture book The Peasant Prince to life. Based on his best-selling memoir Mao’s Last Dancer, this work narrates with words and music the inspiring story of Li Cunxin’s childhood and follows his subsequent journey to become one of the world’s greatest ballet dancers.

Katy Abbott, MSO Composer in Residence, will explore the themes of her work with illuminating demonstrations with the orchestra.

This relaxed, sensory-friendly performance is designed to be a comfortable place for children of all ages, from baby and toddler onwards as well as audience members with autism, a disability or sensory sensitivity.
